Dark Adventure by KONAMI (1987)
[edit]"Dark Adventure", an 1987 arcade game by Konami, preceded and was very similar to Zombies Ate My Neighbors in terms of gameplay and ironically featured an unofficial clone of Indiana Jones. Check the related wiki article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E0A:208:4130:9C10:6B5B:70D4:816E (talk) 03:44, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
Enemy misnomers
[edit]The instruction manual calls the "creature from the black lagoon" gillmen; not squidmen. There's one level called "Squidmen of the Deep" which perhaps could explain this misunderstanding. I'm also adding "Stanley Decker" to the chainsaw maniac's name.
Minor changes
[edit]I have made some minor changes; I moved references to its own section, added Day of the Tentacle reference and corrected some small errors. Hammerite
A note
[edit]This: "In some English-speaking countries the name was considered unsuitable" is inexact; the changes reported were made in some non English-speaking countries too, like France.
The huge baby is missing!
[edit]Why isn't the huge baby mentioned in the enemy/semi-boss list? Jraregris 17:25, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes, the giant baby must be mentioned; the only rationale I can imagine for not is it's usually a neighbor to be saved when one's done pounding it. russ. 20:21, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I added the baby and a couple other things that were absent. I'm not an amazing writer though. Feel free to edit it. Sahuagin 20:53, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
The page is a mess...
[edit]It even says so on the top of the page. The enemy descriptions should be shortened. I will probably do so later. This is an encylopedia site; not a game strategy site. We don't need to hear about every move an enemy has. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Iamstillhiro1112 (talk • contribs) 22:19, 19 December 2006 (UTC).
I changed that enemy description section. It probably needs more editing, but it's looking better than before. Whoever was writing it was trying to sound smart and used big words that weren't nessesary. Actually, it was sounding like an old video game instruction booklet. Maybe that's where it was from. Iamstillhiro1112 (talk • contribs) 22:19, 19 December 2006 (UTC).
The entire page feels like it came straight out of the instruction maunual... but I guess that beats the enemy strategy bits that are scattered throughout the section. I like enemy descriptions, not so much the blatant strategy. What do you think about that? I think in the next few days I might get to cleaning up the enemy section so that they refrence monster design, while toning down gameplay aspects slightly. Matty Rage 01:09, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, that would be perfect. I've already spent much time cleaning it before. I think it IS time for another cleaning. This isn't the site to place game strategy.Iamstillhiro1112 01:16, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
Okay, now for enemies. I'm curious if someone could find out where some enemies came from. Giant Ants? Had to have come from some movie, I feel it. Mummies, I don't think they die from one hit of a soda can, do they? I always used a weed-whacker (yeah, strategy >_>). Should Stanley Decker be considered a semi-boss? They spawn in groups, and although appear less frequently, are not a DIRECT threat to the player. I'll leave him there for now. No need to change more than I'm going to right now. Rights bought by Blizzard Entertainment?
[edit]I recently heard Blizzard Entertainment bought the rights to this game from a member of the Something Awful forums. He said it was confirmed, but I haven't been able to find anything regarding it while searching Google. Etni3s 02:20, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Giant ants
[edit]I noticed the giant ant enemy is mentioned in this regard:
Old movies like "Empire of the ants"(1977) inspired these enemies---when giant insects result of nuclear waste contamination was a popular theme.
I'd say it's just as likely these ants were inspired by the original "nuclear giant ant" movie, "Them!" from 1954. Jodamn 20:42, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
